NATURE

Watch one place through a season

You do not need to travel far to see change.

Choose a repeatable viewpoint

Find a place that you can visit easily: a public garden, a street tree or a view from a path. Choose a position that remains safe and accessible. A recurring observation is easier to sustain when it fits into something you already do.

Record a few details

Note the date, approximate time, weather and two visible changes. New leaves, a longer shadow or a different bird call are enough. Avoid disturbing plants or animals to improve a photograph. If you are unsure of a species, record the uncertainty rather than guessing confidently.

Arrange the sequence

At the end of the season, put the observations in date order. Look for gradual changes and surprising interruptions. Keep missing weeks visible. An honest, incomplete record is still valuable and gives you a clear starting point for the next season.
